Our Course Options

The type of professional certificate that you have will determine whether you're in need of professional learning units (PLUs) or clock hours.

Clock Hour Courses

Clock hour courses are required for professional educators with teachers' licenses. If you have a bachelor's degree in education, this may be the course type for you. Higher degrees in education may also apply. However, if you are renewing a certificate in instructional leadership, you are in need of Professional Learning Unit courses.

Professional Learning Unit Courses

Professional learning unit (PLU) courses are required for professional leaders with instructional leadership or school administration licenses. Despite your current position in your school or district, the State Department of Education requires you to acquire at least 5 PLUs every 5 years. The exception to the rule is that specific college courses may be used as substitutes for PLUs.
