Weaving Strengths into Your School's Culture
Standard 3: Human Resources Development

Written by Erica J. Williams, NBCT

Suggested Prerequisites:
  • You must hold instructional leader certification.
  • You must have access to a computer with internet connection.

The purpose of this professional study is to cause educational leaders to reflect upon their practices

and subsequently improve the way they lead in education. This study will be based on the content of the book, Strengths Based Leadership by Tom Rath. (You will receive a copy of the book & an LLP reflection journal.)

Often, our natural talents and abilities are underutilized. In this professional learning course, you will use your innate abilities to lead your life and the lives of those around you well. Knowing your strengths and learning the strengths of your colleagues will help you to converse with and encourage others in a more efficient manner. Once you have learned your strengths, you will also learn how to collaborate and lead others. Teachers will, in turn, become more aware of the strengths of their students and they can subsequently teach their students according to their strengths. Once the strengths of all faculty/staff members have been discovered along with the
strengths of all students, a school's culture will change. The school's culture will become more focused on utilizing the innate abilities of all to create a better learning environment.

  • You must attend, participate in, & complete 9 weekly face-to-face OR 3 full-day training sessions.
  • You must complete ongoing professional reading and journal reflections.

After successful completion of this professional study, each participant will receive one (1) PLU. This professional study will be offered up to 3 years. PayPal & credit/debit card payments accepted. Checks from schools or districts are also accepted. Registration fees are to be paid in full via PayPal or at the initial face-to-face meeting.
